The Project

This blog is for the purpose of tracking and documenting the project: Aardwolf MUSHClient Plugins.
Posts shall come from the project proponents themselves, with topics and insights ranging from the in-game familiarization stage, the plugin prototype development phase, to the final project implementation.

Aardwolf is a unique, free multi-player role playing game (MUD). This environment lets you assume the role of a character from hundreds of race and guild combinations then interact with other players and the inhabitants of a virtual world.

MUSHClient Plugins shall make it easier for the user to interact and play within the game.

2 years in silence

I was looking over to a friend's blog. It was cool and amazing.
Then it came unto me that hey, I think I had (or we in this instance) since this blog was created to document out project way back in senior year of Computer Science.

Lo and and behold. Here it is. Lying and waiting.
Mark used to managed this.

I'll continue it now or just create a new one.

Choosing Subversion Over Mercurial

We have chosen Subversion (SVN) Version Control System (VCS) over Mercurial VCS.
SVN is a free/open source VCS. SVN manages files and directories, and the changes made to them over time. The only difference between Mercurial and SVN I see is that team members can not make check-ins when they are offline in SVN while Mercurial gives the members the benefit to work offline. However, inorder for our plugins to be tested and run, we need a working internet connection. We need to connect to Aardwolf MUD server. So i think SVN would fit well with our neeeds. Also, there are many people who are already familiar with SVN VCS.
I have chosen TortoiseSVN as our client. I found this tool quite easy to use.
More to follow on how-to do stuff and everything.
It is 1:48am in the morning..

Visitations

We had visitors today. (Or was that yesterday? Sorry...I'm starting to lose track of the days. xp)

Anyhoo...

Michelle Lou a.k.a. Mich was here today (or yesterday - whatever!)

Mich is our batchmate. She's also our classmate in Soft.Eng'g so she's also working on another project together with our other classmates. She dropped by our hideout-slash-headquarters-slash-training den to check on our group's progress... AND because she is Kuya Nasif's girlfriend. *cheezy smile*

Actually, I also PM'ed her earlier on ym 'coz we had to discuss something concerning our department's upcoming activity which is a local celebration of Software Freedom Day on the 19th. She's my co-officer in our society.

@Mich: Thanks for dropping by Yaot(Ugly-face)! Haha...

Kuya Ken also arrived today.

And boy did we have fun. We all had good hard laughs 'coz the dude was a natural party attraction. Mind you guys, but he does a very nice Harry Potter impersonation. *The guy is a total riot. He should be hired around parties or something. :p*

He was one of our seniors in ComSci. A true-blooded geek and original overnighter here at Sir Dorward's pad. To some he was considered a legend in the course of his stay at our school. Though it has just been a year since he graduated we all suddenly felt nostalgic upon seeing him. :) I'm starting to wonder how his other batchmates are doing. (Aside: Kuya Ian and Kuya Charlie? Where the hell are you guys anyway??)

Oh well, I think I'll stop here for now. Or maybe until the time I could think of something else to write about.

Project Updates:
Kuya Nasif is learning how to connect SQLite with Eclipse so he could start working on the web interface plugins.
Kuya Doy is still choosing between Mercurial and Subversion for our repositories and versioning system.
as for Mark (me), I'm starting to go crazy over my academics and extra-curriculars: Soft.Eng'g, Thesis, AI, Software Freedom Day. *I'm gonna burnout soon :'s*

First Blood

Welcome to The Chronicles of Aylor!

Since this is the first post for this blog, I (We) rightly name thy post as - "First Blood."

As stated in this blog's opening message, this is intended to document all our insights, experiences, thoughts [and pretty much anything under the sun] about our project. This is under our CSc 182 - Software Engineering class headed by our project adviser Mr. Dorward Villaruz. (yeah! rock on sir.)

We hope you will enjoy reading this blog as much as we did writing it.
